America the beautiful is dead

My writing has been minimal over the course of the past six weeks. The wave of joy surrounding the future king of this nation has engulfed me with such disappear and grieving for “the beautiful land” that was once proud of these roots. Now it has fallen pray to what the world thinks we should be, as a opposed to what we once were.

The United States of America used to be the prime vanguard. We directed this worlds course, unashamed of our Christian heritage. Unashamed of our strength and our willingness to wield the sword if need be. Sure there were times when we were not right, but our power was so great we could have ruled the world like Rome, instead we embraced everyones right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

Our mistakes were not because of zealot greed. It was because we wanted the world to embrace what we knew to be the best chance of freedom. We understood the humanity of grace. This is now at an end.

Our future will be eerily similar to Rome. The empire will soon end, and it will be wrapped with flag of “fairness.”

A nation that was once proud of it can do spirit has a nominee that mocks hard work, commonly saying it is unfair if a person has to work two jobs to make ends meet. (Note I do work two jobs to make ends meet, not because its terrible but because I wanted my family to live in a house. It is my choice. If I did not like it I could change it. But Obama wants to change it for me).

How can a nation grow without the opportunity to embrace hard work?

We now live a nation where wanting the best for yourself is “selfish” and “unpatriotic”. We live in a country where its future king would not confirm in debate that he will protect Israel, our closet ally but he will sit down with our enemies.

America used to be about what you can do for your country, but its all about what the country should give you.

Welcome to the reign of Barack, who will double speak every issue, while the media and nation turns a blind eye to it all, amazed at his silver tongue.

Since most of the voters have decided that Obama is the best option, let me tell you why his presidency is going to be terrible. Oh let me count the ways.

How I would have debated Obama on a couple of issues

I have not written a thing for over a month now. You can blame the political campaigns of both senators. They have left me depressed and disenfranchised.

Whether it is the lying or the lack of real debate I have not been able to stop my head shaking from disappointment long enough to want to type a sentence.

It was to the point that a political junkie like me promised myself not to watch the final debate. Each debate reminded me of X-Men 3. You do not wish to admit to its existence but its there, and there is nothing we can do about it. (Man that movie was bad.)

Abortion. Here’s a way to make everyone (no one?) happy. Well, at least the babies.

By J.M.Z

Most politicians speak conveniently in support of either abolishing or diminishing abortion.

Consequently, the discourse comes off as if it is a song, discussing the different pronunciations of a potato or tomato. “Pro-choice, pro-life, let’s just call the whole thing off.”

The rhetoric in this election season is typical of this. Senator McCain has openly stated he is pro-life to the thunderous applause of every social conservative. Senator Obama, on the other hand, states he is pro-choice to the approval of those who believe abortions are a fundamental right.

However, Obama has stated, as recently as during the Saddleback Forum when interviewed by Rick Warren, that he is for reducing the number of abortions.

So in reality, both candidates say they are for limiting abortion.

Yet, little has been done to achieve this middle ground, whether in this election cycle or the past three decades, with both sides of the position holding to an “all or nothing” mentality.

In an attempt to break this gridlock, I have pondered all of this in an attempt to find a point of compromise. I doubt that many will be completely happy with my solution, but my focus is not on each perspective sides happiness. My effort is to limit the number of lives wasted.

Make no mistake, I certainly don’t wish for abortion to exist. My conscience dictates this. However, I recognize that many see abortion as a right like no other. As a result, I would propose to stake out a middle ground that would be amenable to most everyone.

I, like Senator Obama, want to see a decrease in the number of abortions performed per year. And yet, I feel that we can accomplish this without banning the practice outright, leaving the door open for the choice that many Americans believe is a fundamental right.

As a result, this is what I propose.

When in doubt, Accuse the Hick of Being a Racist…America’s Next Top Model: Episode 2

September 15th, 2008 · No Comments

This week’s episode did not disappoint for those wishing to see trash at its finest.

The big issue was whether Hannah, small town girl is a racist, but before I dive into that I wanted to bring up the mystery that plagued the judges through out the episode.

Isis, whom started last week so strong, had a very bad week.

Election 2008: Whom is America’s Next Top Model

If you haven’t heard of this show then there is absolutely nothing wrong with you, if you watch the show and like it for its content then you are more then likely a teen age or early twenty something product of the American public school system, if you like the show purely to laugh at the unreal levels of stupidity then you are much like myself.

America’s Next Top Moron, oops I mean Next Top Model is now in season 11 meaning it has gained some level of popularity. I will attempt to watch every episode this season and inform you of all the on goings of the show’s creator and host Tyra Banks and the wanna bees the exude a numbing level of idiosyncrasy.

The first episode is a quick introduction of the top 20 picks from around the nation. This years top twenty was the usual round up of diverse ethnicities, skin colors, and oddly enough body figures ( no one can discredit the show for not including all types, last years winner was a plus size woman). This year there is a different kind of girl, the boy kinda girl.

Palin is McCain’s running mate! Huh? Maybe we have the answers.

Over the past few days political pundits have been scrambling to make sense of why John McCain chose Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin as his running mate.

Right know I am undecided on whether this choice is as “desperate” as the Politico wrote or a “brilliant choice” as noted by Dick Morris. Regardless here is my attempt to make sense of it all.
